Greg Louganis

His natural father was Samoan, his mother European.  He competed in his first Olympics in 1976 and won a silver medal for diving.  He then went on to become the first diver to win both the platform and springboard events in two consecutive Olympics. He has written two books: his autobiography, Breaking the Surface and a book on dog care entitled, For the Life of Your Dog.


Paul Kariya

His father is Japanese and his mother is White (Scottish). One of the league's top talents, Kariya has hands of magic and explosive speed. He passes intuitively and is an integral part of his team's power play and penalty kill. Was first-ever selection of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (fourth overall) in 1993. Holds Anaheim all-time records for goals, assists and points. Won Hobey Baker Award (1992-93). Has played in four NHL All-Star Games. Has won Lady Byng Trophy twice (1995-96, 1996-97).


Steve Kariya

His father is Japanese and his mother is White (Scottish). Younger brother of Paul Kariya (above). A gritty winger, Kariya possesses good offensive skills. Signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Vancouver Canucks in 1999. Named to NCAA All-America first team (1998-99). Named to Hockey East All-Star first team (1998-99).


Johnny Damon

He has a white father and a Thai mother. Center fielder for the Boston Red Sox. One of the premier leadoff men in the American League. He has been nominated for national honors such as the Roberto Clemente Man of the Year award, for outstanding service to his team and community; and the Branch Rickey Award, which is given to the Major League Baseball player who best personifies "service above self."


Apolo Anton Ohno

His father is Japanese and his mother is White. U.S. Speed Skater. He became the U.S. Champion in 1997, even though he was only 14, the youngest ever. He won both a gold and a silver medal at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
